Time In The Word

How important is the time you spend in God’s Word?

Is your investment paying off? Do you feel like the value is measurable, or does that time seem to be a waste? The answers to these questions are totally dependent upon how you view your relationship with God. The Bible actually describes that it is on one hand something that kills, and on the other hand it brings life. 2 Corinthians 3:4-6. These verses tell us it is more than letters written to the church or law which must be adhered to. Rather, it is a life-giving Spirit; something far beyond mere words on paper.

I am often asked, “What is the best way to study the Bible?” I usually just say, read it!

“The Bible is the only book that includes the author!” ~ Fred Hughes ~

The Holy Spirit actually brings alive in the reader the truth and wisdom of what God is saying to you. It is a supernatural revelation that is custom-designed for the reader at that moment. What is God saying? Read the Word. The Holy Spirit will speak something to you as you read and delight yourself in God’s Word!

Romans 10:17 “…Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God,”

This passage gives us knowledge of how faith comes to us when we read the Bible. Try not to approach reading scripture as a duty, because you know you should read it. Approach the living Word as a person who knows you, wants to spend time with you and wants to reveal to you everything you need to know.

Proverbs 4:20-22 “My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them and healing to all flesh.”

If you are a believer, when you connect to God through His Word, your faith will grow and your relationship with God will grow, too! The Word of God empowers us to live life differently. Faith rises up in us, and we are able to walk in the truth that has the power to set us free! Through the Word of God, we can find, follow and fulfill God’s will in our lives.

People seem to think God’s Word should work like a stick of dynamite, but actually it is like a seed. Luke 8:11 tells us that the Word is a seed. When we sow (read the Word), we can expect a harvest (a benefit) from it.

Luke 8:11 “Now the parable is this: The seed is the Word of God.”

A seed doesn’t look like much, but inside there is life and potential. The seed of God’s Word in your life is also not very impressive at planting time. However, a miracle begins to form in the unseen and will soon emerge into full sight, life and potential.

1 Peter 1:23 “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the Word of God which lives and abides forever,”

God’s Word is alive. Sow it like a seed into your heart and expect a great harvest!

Blessings!
